Financial Aid Eligibility
- Be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be registered with Selective Service (if required)
- Attend a post-secondary school that participates in the following programs: Federal Pell Grants, Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Title VII and Public Health Act Programs
- Be working toward a degree or certificate
- Be making satisfactory academic progress
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan
- Have "financial need" as determined by the US Department of Education
Financial Aid Procedures
- File a FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine eligibility. CTC Practical Nursing Program runs within two FASFA academic years. Student required to complete both FASFA's to determine their full financial aid eligibility.
- Review the Student Aid Report (SAR) and report any corrections to provide accurate information to the federal government.
- If selected for verification, you must provide all requested documentation.
- Review, sign and return award letter accepting the financial aid awards.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress (see Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy).
Financial Aid Payment, Disbursement, and Eligibility
Practical Nursing Program-1371 clock hours. There are three payment periods with two payments first FASFA Award Year One and one plus second loan disbursement period for FASFA Award Year two :
- 5 weeks after program begins
- Completion of 450 hours
- Completion of 901 hours
Satisfactory Academic Progress:
Students must maintain their grades and attendance at 80% to remain eligible to receive financial aid. Please note that program attendance maybe more rigorous. Please see both the PN Program Handbook and the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
Disbursement: Once aid eligibility is determined and approved for processing, expect 5-7 days after approval for the funds to be available to you.
Financial Aid Probation and Suspension:
If a student falls below "satisfactory academic progress" they will be placed on financial aid probation. The student will be notified in writing. If the student regains eligibility they will receive their aid. If the student does not regain their eligibility they will be placed on Financial Aid Suspension and will not receive their financial aid.
Suspension Appeal
A student who has been denied payment may request an appeal. The written appeal will be be brought before the Attendance Review Board (ARB) for consideration. The ARB decision is final.
